Teaching at the Department of surgery with anesthesiology of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade connects theoretical knowledge, clinical experience and practical skills with the aim of educating future medical doctors ready for the challenges of modern clinical practice.
From the foundations of surgery to modern clinical practice
The aim of the class is to introduce the student to modern principles of diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases and acquire the knowledge necessary for their timely recognition and care.
Knowledge that is put into practice
Teaching is focused on understanding disease, developing clinical thinking and acquiring practical skills.
Clinical knowledge
Understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms of surgical diseases, modern diagnostic methods, principles of treatment and postoperative monitoring.
Practical skills
Training for the recognition of acute surgical conditions, basic differential-diagnostic procedures and the management of minor injuries with the principles of asepsis and antisepsis.
Emergency status
Special attention is paid to the timely recognition of urgent surgical conditions, complications of the disease and complications in the postoperative course.
Interactive classes in small groups.
Active teaching is based on working in small groups, which enables students to have more direct contact with teachers, active participation and better acquisition of knowledge and practical skills.
The interactive approach encourages clinical thinking, forming independent attitudes and connecting modern scientific knowledge with everyday medical practice.
19 teaching bases — one department
Teaching is carried out in 19 teaching bases of the Department of surgery with anesthesiology, which represent important centers of surgery, anesthesiology, education and scientific research.
The teaching bases offer theoretical, seminar and practical classes in surgery with anesthesiology, first aid, basis of clinical practice I and II, clinical internship, summer practice and elective courses, as well as classes for students studying in English.
